At Heckenberg Public School we provide a K-6 Balanced Literacy Session. This is comprised of a range of literacy programs and pedagogies which support the effective learning of literacy. Programs and pedagogies include:
- Focus on Reading
- L3 in Kindergarten and Stage 1
- Balanced Literacy sessions in all classes, including reading, writing, vocabulary development, phonics, phonemic awareness, speaking and concepts of print
- Instructional Level Guided Reading
- Literacy games
- Multilit Tutoring
